Pyrography (also known as wood burning) is the free handed art form of decorating wood and other materials with marks from heated tools. The term means "writing with fire", from the Greek pur and graphos -Wikipedia
Imagine if your average ink pen could glow red from how hot it was! It really drives home the "writing with fire" description for pyrography. Care must be taken, but if you ever get the chance to try it out, I can't suggest it enough! Not long ago, I fell in love with it after some lessons from my mother, but I suppose you may have guessed that by now ;)

First is sanding the surface for a nice smoothness. Then the initial pencil work begins, followed by carefully burning the image into wood with my Colwood Detailer. After the line art is down I move onto shading and any cleaning up. Then I will add choose to add paint, sequins, and glitter to add more fun to each piece. The final step is to seal the wood using epoxy resin for a beautiful and protective shine that truly makes the piece sparkle and enhances the color.
